A police confrontation with criminals in Kelantan resulted in the death of a wanted tow truck driver who was beaten to death by local police. The 31-year-old had an extensive criminal record of 24 offenses, including drug-related crimes.
This incident occurred at around 5:30 AM today (13th) in the Cherang Basor area of Pasir Puteh District, Kelantan.
The Chief of Police of Kelantan, Mohamed Yusoff, confirmed that the police discovered a suspect wanted for criminal activities in Merrow, Kota Bharu, and initiated a pursuit, during which the suspect immediately fled by car.
After escaping to Cherang Basor, the suspect got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the officers. In self-defense, the officers returned fire, and the suspect was killed during the exchange.
At the scene, the police found a semi-automatic pistol, a fake gun, and a large knife. They also discovered a package of tobacco, which the police suspect was intended for smuggling into a prison.
Mohamed Yusoff stated that the police are investigating whether there were any other individuals involved in the incident. The suspect's body has been sent to the hospital for an autopsy.
